Currently, more Americans (5 million) are 30 years old, more than any other age. More Americans are now aged 26-30 (23.25 million) than any other five-year demographic window. More than half the US population is currently under 40 years old – a statistic made more impressive by the facts that Americans are now living longer and having fewer children than at any point in US history.
Of all the major drivers of change in the Media Universe over the next decade, none will be more important or influential than the enormous generational shift the world is undergoing as I type this. In the next ten years, the world’s workforce, economic power, and media consumption will be increasingly dominated by the three most diverse and digitally native generations in history.
As this generational shift happens, every part of our global socio-economic machinery will need to be rethought and retooled. This is especially true for how our media is made and consumed.
