THE FUTURE OF CONTENT
The New Buyers... Everyone
Happy Monday Peaceniks. Ready for some passion?
Last week, on the Media Odyssey Podcast, I dropped the full keynote from a recent presentation I gave about The Affinity Economy. That presentation was made for marketers, advertisers, and agencies. I focused on how to spend ad dollars, wisely, now that the Media Ecosystem has been forever radically fragmented.
Above, you’ll find a new keynote, which I gave last month at MIPCOM - the largest content market on earth - dedicated to the Content Business in the new normal.
With traditional Media on the precipice of an extinction event, TV greenlights and content sales are plummeting; margins are shrinking; and studios, production companies, producers, and TV sellers now face their own existential crisis.
Yes, Disney and Paramount both recently announced that they are increasing their content budgets. However, what many failed to realize about that news: most of the new money is going to sports, while the rest is going to massive franchise sequels (aka Tom Cruise and The Avengers).
The bad news: Businesses and people who make content can no longer survive by relying solely on mainstream Media buyers.
The good news: There are NEW buyers out there. All of humanity.
If you transform your business and focus on selling much more of your content directly to consumers, you can do more than survive in this new normal - you can thrive.
How? That’s what the presentation above - full of detailed data and specific case studies - answers.
The presentation is titled The Affinity Economy.
Atop this post you’ll see the complete presentation, free for all. However, due to the shape of the stage, not all my slides and data are visible all the time. Below, you’ll find the whole deck, with all the slides, in a downloadable PDF - so you can follow along at home (or at the home office, or the mobile office wherever you find yourself right now).
I hope you find the presentation informative and entertaining. And I hope you enjoy your week!
