Hola from Basque Country in Spain!
I was fortunate to be asked to open the Global Entertainment Marketing Academy of Arts & Sciences (GEMA) conference in San Sebastian, Basque Country, Spain this week.
It was an amazing event, with truly inspiring and valuable content and participants from all the biggest and best entertainment marketers in the Media Universe, including Netflix, YouTube, RTL, CAA, Red Bee Creative, ITV/Zoo55, and more.
I did my darnedest to rise to the occasion, with a brand new presentation that challenged old school conventional wisdom and pushed for acceptance of the new normal in this new era of Media and marketing.
“If you're not comfortable with fragmentation, maybe this isn't the industry for you.
In this new context of fragmentation and fragmentation, Creators are the new Hollywood. But brands, publishers, and traditional media can be, and should be, the biggest Creators in the ecosystem… especially if they don’t want to be left behind.”
Afterward, I heard that the presentation opened some eyes and minds, sparked a lot of conversation, and scared the living shit out of many attendees. Based on the reaction I think a lot of the anxious chatter started with this infographic, showing that Millennials, Gen Z and Gen A now make up 69% of the world’s population.
This speech was a bit of an audition for a chunk of the data and material I’ll be using at StreamTV next month. And it focuses on the widening generational divide in Media habits between audiences Millennial and younger and those Gen X and older.
If you want a sneak peek at the rest of the slides and data, below I’ve posted a link to the presentation for you to download (exclusively for premium Peaceniks).
Let me know if you have any questions - and I hope to see you in Denver at my Media Universe Summit!
