In sports, the Fourth Quarter is when everything is decided. That’s quadruply true for 2022.
So far in 2022, SVOD, Social Media, Crypto, SPACs and countless “Pandemic Darlings” have had seismic reckonings. Apple destroyed mobile advertising in order to take it over. Amazon stumbled badly in its core business, but offset that with what may be the best cloud and ad businesses on the planet; and with old-fashioned TV football and mass audiences on streaming. Microsoft continued to amass an impenetrable multi-faceted empire, adding Activision (allegedly) and partnering with the world’s largest premium channel for advertising. Tech Superstars Netflix, and Meta have hit midlife crises - far, far sooner than they expected. Everyone in media seems to be struggling with the new rate of change, and with new business fundamentals of the “new normal.”
So, with the clock winding down on 2022 and so much on the line in this sport we call Media, here are ESHAP’S 17 PREDICTIONS FOR 4Q 2022:
