Do you feel that? That’s what it feels like in the eye of a paradigm shift. Turns out, 2021 was a year of enormous changes in media - so big, in fact, it took a new year starting for us to be able to catch our breath, look back and reflect.
The result? The first quarter of 2022 has been chock full o’ of dramatic news in the media ecosystem, most of it telling us just what TF went down in 2021, and offering us a whole new outlook on the year, and years, ahead.
The shifts in media have been so substantial thus far this year, I didn’t just update my Media Universe Map, I felt the need to nearly, entirely redraw it - to best represent where we’ve just been, where we are now, and where we’re going next.
If you follow the evolution of this map, it may look familiar, but the redesigns are pretty substantial. Regions have been relocated, entire new categories added, and the whole map itself has been reshaped so that the “zoom out” version is now the only view - allowing the full gravitational pull of the Trillion Dollar Death Stars to always be on the radar, and giving us new breathing room for additions and changes in the year ahead.
